Working on...

... Joseph's Birth Story
But for now you get to listen to me complain... This jumps around a little so bare with me:
Joseph hasn't had a bowel movement since we left the hospital Wednesday 1/20/10 We are to call the doctor if he hasn't gone by today/tomorrow. So far it looks like we will be calling the doctor first thing in the morning. He cried for 4 hours last night :( although the upside to that was he slept for 5 :) I have been nursing him, which has been going really well. I have to use a shield because he is tongue tied like RuthAnne, but not nearly as bad. We think it comes from Isaac, because we were looking at his tongue and the frenulum comes pretty far up on the bottom of his tongue. Anyway... I digressed lol.. Joseph is so miserable and I am hoping it is because he is constipated, because all he does is cry when he is awake, to the point that I don't want him to be awake because he cries so much :( I really hope this is the problem, because if it isn't I don't know how I am going to keep myself sane; at least right now I know what it is. Last night was the first time I really couldn't handle it. Back to the breast feeding thing.. I am pretty sure there was at least one feeding yesterday that he didn't get anything, luckily I had been able to get a couple ounces while pumping just because over the past couple days. We gave him some breast milk in a bottle, unfortunately it didn't help. I was finally able to be able to get him completely calmed down, laying in my arm in bed. and then, like I said, he slept for 5 hours. Today he has been sleeping quite a bit, my parents are coming down and I plan to have him be awake as much as possible, and they can hold him lol :) I don't really think they are going to object ;) He still won't take a binki, which is hard because I think part of the reason he thinks he is hungry is because his tummy hurts, so sometimes he won't nurse even though he acts like he wants to. But he does try to suck on his thumb or hand, he has been looking at them too, which is a little weird, it even looked like he was watching as he played with the binki with his hands.
Off to rest...

Sorry you guys are having troubles! Amber had a lot of trouble with feedings and taking a paci (she finally took the tiniest mam ones). Have you tried putting the sheild on your finger and letting him suck on that? I know its not the greatest thing to do but its works with her. Hope things get better for you!!

The shield might work. But part of it is giving it to him so he can soothe himself to sleep.
Thank you :)
